Anthony Keats Speaks at Loyola Law School Fashion Law Luncheon

Tony Keats joined attorneys from Guess?, Inc. and the founder of Karl Kani, Inc. at Loyola Law School in downtown Los Angeles for a discussion on the state of the law regarding fashion design, marketing, and the industry. Los Angeles has increasingly become a center for fashion entrepreneurs and designers and law schools in the area now offer law school courses focusing on the issues faced by this particular industry. Among other issues, Tony discussed the uphill battle in Congress to enact new legislation which protects fashion design beyond the very limited protection now available under the present U.S. copyright laws. He also discussed the current state of the recycling of apparel and the branding issues now arising from “upcycling” or embellishment of famous branded apparel and accessories.
